LANAP Laser BootCamp Completed at Walter Reed Military Medical Center

7 additional Navy periodontists trained in the LANAP protocol

CERRITOS, Calif., Mar. 24,  2017 / — The Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry (IALD) announces the first LANAP Laser BootCamp taught by the Naval Postgraduate Dental School.  The Navy Periodontal Postgraduate Program joins a select group of periodontal programs in the United States certified to teach the LANAP® protocol.

The Program Chair for the Naval Residency Program in Periodontics along with the Director and one Faculty Periodontist successfully completed IALD LANAP Certified Instructor training in December 2016, enabling the three instructors to teach their first LANAP continuum training at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center this month. Four naval periodontists and three additional naval periodontal residents completed this first phase of training in the LANAP protocol.

“Treating gum disease with the minimally invasive LANAP protocol allows military personnel to return to duty significantly faster with less bleeding, less swelling, less pain (lasers seal nerve endings); all without needing opioids for post-operative pain,” states Dawn M. Gregg, DDS, CEO and Training Director for the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry.

The four periodontists have been deployed to bases worldwide with a PerioLase MVP-7 dental laser to reverse periodontitis and peri-implantitis with the LANAP and LAPIP protocols as part of a multi-year, multi-million dollar contract with Millennium Dental Technologies, Inc.

The LANAP protocol is the only laser gum disease treatment to have rigorous, peer-reviewed, scientific evidence, along with the first and only FDA clearance for True Regeneration™.  True Periodontal Regeneration is the gold standard of healing following the destruction caused by gum disease. True Periodontal Regeneration results in the functional regeneration of new alveolar bone, periodontal ligaments, and cementum destroyed by gum disease without foreign biologics.
