NASA Astronaut Garrett E. Reisman, PhD Named Keynote Speaker of 2017 LANAP Study Club

The 2017 meeting in Boston, MA highlights the historic outcomes of technological innovations

CERRITOS, Calif., Aug. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Soaring to new heights, the 7th Annual LANAP Study Club welcomes Astronaut Garrett E Reisman, PhD as the keynote speaker. Dr. Reisman will address the vital role innovation plays in the advancement of technology.

Selected by NASA as a mission specialist in 1998, Dr. Reisman has experienced some of the most extreme environments. In 2003, Dr. Reisman was a crewmember on NEEMO V, living on the bottom of the sea in the Aquarius habitat for two weeks. In 2008 he completed his first space flight; going on to log over 107 days in space on two different missions. With three different EVA space walks totaling over 21 hours suspended outside of the shuttle and operation of the Space Station Robotic Arm, Dr. Reisman has a first-hand perspective of what technological innovation can achieve.

Currently Director of Space Operations for SpaceX, Dr. Reisman has played a pivotal role in readying the SpaceX Dragon Spacecraft to transport people into space.

“Dr. Reisman is the perfect person to set the tone for this year’s LANAP Study Club,” states Dawn Gregg, DDS, Training Director of the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry (IALD). “The cornerstone of space exploration is to aim for the stars and broaden the horizons of what is feasible. Similarly, the LANAP protocol does for dentistry what was previously thought to be impossible – regrow bone.”

“Like Space X privatizing space flight, achieving True Periodontal Regeneration without foreign biologics was once considered a foolish endeavor,” adds Robert H. Gregg II, DDS, inventor of the LANAP protocol. “Through innovative application of technology, we are able to achieve the Holy Grail of periodontal healing – regeneration.”

Hosted by the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry and sponsored by Millennium Dental Technologies, Inc., this year’s meeting will be held on September 8, 2017 at the Boston Marriott Long Wharf, MA. The event concludes with world-class fellowship reception overlooking the beautiful Boston Harbor.

The meeting is open to all LANAP clinicians and earns 8 hours of CE credits. Space is limited, with early bird registration available through August 25.
