Dr. Barak A. Wray graduated from Florida State University in 2005 earning a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology. Following graduation, he attend the University of Florida, College of Dentistry receiving a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2009. He was commissioned in the Navy in 2009 and stationed in Norfolk, Virginia at Sewell’s Point. At Sewell’s Point, Dr. Wray completed a one year training program in Advanced Education in General Dentistry. Following the AEGD program, he treated Sailors and Marines as a general dentist both in the United States and abroad in Japan and Malaysia.
Dr. Wray completed his residency program in Periodontics at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School from 2012 to 2015. During his residency program, he received a Master’s of Science in Oral Biology from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. After graduation, Dr. Wray practiced as a periodontist in Washington Navy Yard, DC and Naval Health Quantico, Virginia. While at the Washington Navy Yard, he was the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center’s General Practice Residency Periodontics Specialty mentor.
Currently, Dr. Wray is teaching at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School in Bethesda, MD as one of four faculty members in the Periodontics residency program. He is a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, an Associate Professor of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, and currently appointed as the Navy’s Specialty Leader for Laser Dentistry through the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery.
