
Dr. Thomas Rams is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology with 38 years of private dental practice experience limited to periodontics. Dr. Rams holds a B.S. in Environmental Health from George Washington University (1974), a Master of Health Science (M.H.S.) in Environmental Health Sciences from the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health (1977), a D.D.S. from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry (1980), and a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences (Oral Microbiology) from the University of Groningen (Netherlands) (2013). He completed a periodontology specialty residency program at the New York VA Medical Center in Manhattan (1987), along with a clinical dentistry staff fellowship (1982), and a dental public health specialty residency program (1994) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland.
Dr. Rams is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Periodontology and Oral Implantology at Temple University School of Dentistry, Philadelphia, where he served as Chairman of the Department of Periodontology and Oral Implantology (14 years), Laboratory Director and Clinical Consultant for the Oral Microbiology Testing Service Laboratory (27 years), Senior Associate Dean (4 years), and Associate Dean for Advanced Education and Research (5 years).
