Thomas Rams, DDS, MHS, PhD

Dr. Thomas Rams is a board-certified periodontist with over 25 years of private dental practice experience limited to periodontics. Dr. Rams holds a B.S. in Environmental Health from George Washington University (1974), a Master of Health Science (M.H.S.) in Environmental Health Sciences from the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health (1977), a D.D.S. from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry (1980), and a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences (Oral Microbiology) from the University of Groningen, University Medical Center Groningen (Netherlands) (2013).

In addition to part-time private practice of periodontics, Dr. Rams is a tenured Professor in the Department of Periodontology and Oral Implantology at Temple University School of Dentistry, Philadelphia, where he teaches, conducts research, and serves as Laboratory Director and Clinical Consultant for the Oral Microbiology Testing Service Laboratory. Dr. Rams also is a Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Temple University School of Medicine. He previously served the dental school as Senior Associate Dean (2004-2008), Associate Dean for Advanced Education and Research (1999-2004), and Chairman of the Department of Periodontology and Oral Implantology (1996-2010).
